Compressed natural gas (CNG) fill chart to determine the maximum pressure to which each cylinder is to be filled for given gas temperatures.
Many compressor stations are not capable of achieving a full fill because of high gas temperatures and limited upper pressure of 250 bar (3636 psi). In many cases a compressed gas cooling system must be installed to achieve a full fill. This may result in a multi-stage filling process to achieve full fill. Refer to the cylinder fill percentage chart to determine the level of fill possible under the conditions.
NOTICE Cylinder damage may result if overfilled.
NOTICE If the internal gas temperature is between temperatures on the chart, always take the lower value.
NOTICE Do not allow cylinder surface temperature to exceed 149 °F (65 °C). Short term gas temperature of up to 180° F (82 °C) is allowed when the maximum operation pressure is not exceeded.
If the gas operating temperature increases up to the maximum allowable temperature of 180 °F (82 °C) prior to the maximum developed pressure being reached, STOP the filling process and wait until the gas temperature drops.
Repeat these procedures until the allowable cylinder operating pressure is finally reached.
